Hey there β happy Wednesday! π
Welcome to The Midweek Memo. I know your inbox is busy, so each issue will be short and snappy, a quick helpful email you can get through in a flash. π
Have you ever felt “imposter syndrome”? That’s the persistent feeling of being a fraud, doubting your accomplishments, and fearing you’ll be exposed as incompetent despite evidence of success. You might often attribute your achievements to luck or external factors.
I think a lot of us have felt that way, at least sometimes. ππΌββοΈ But you can learn to recognize β and deal with β imposter syndrome, so you can keep moving forward. Some tips that might help:
β’ Talk About It: Share your feeling with friends, family, or a mentor. Often, youβll find that others have experienced the same struggles. Opening up can provide reassurance and help you feel less isolated.
β’ Reframe Your Thoughts: Changing your internal dialogue can make a big difference in how you perceive your abilities. Challenge your negative self-talk and focus on facts, not feelings.
β’ Track Your Accomplishments: Keep a record of your successes, big and small, to counter self-doubt. When imposter syndrome hits, refer back to this list to remind yourself of your capabilities and successes.
β’ Accept Imperfection: Recognize that everyone makes mistakes and no one knows everything. Your unique insights and experiences bring something valuable to the table. Your audience isnβt looking for perfection (I hope you’re not looking for it from me π though I do my very best); they want authentic, helpful content.
If all else fails, fake it βtil you make it. π Donβt wait until you feel confident to start putting yourself out there. Courage comes from taking risks. Change your behavior first and allow your confidence to build.
That’s it for this time β let me know what you think, and have a great rest of the week! π
